COMPETITION RULES

1.GENERAL

With effect from the start of the 2007/2008 Competition Season the following Competition Rules supersede those previously published.

All Competitions are open to Members of the Club who have paid their subscriptions. Entries shall be submitted to the Slide or Print Secretary by the date shown in the current programme.

(a)To enter the Club Championship Print Competitions for the first time members must be classified into Division 1 or Division 2 (Division 2 being the lower classification). Normally new members will compete in Division 2. If experienced workers wish to compete in Division 1, they should submit six prints, seven days in advance of the entry date, to the Print Selection Committee for consideration of their divisional placing.

(b)Slides must be presented in 2" x 2" mounts and correctly spotted (i.e. with a coloured spot on the bottom left hand corner of the mount when the slide is viewed correctly in the hand). Each slide must be marked with a title and the member's name on the same side as the spot.

(c) Prints must be a minimum of 35 sq.in., or 226 sq.cms mounted on card with a maximum size of 50cms x 40cms but not framed. Each print must be marked on the back with a title which may also appear on the front. The member's name and classification must be marked on the back only.

(d) Trade processed, digital and home processed work is eligible in all print and slide competitions. All images should be photographic in origin and copyright of any image should rest solely with the photographer. Clip Art and Royalty Free images are not acceptable.

(e) Submission of an entry will imply acceptance of the Club's Competition Rules.

(f) Whilst the Club will make every effort to safeguard entries it can accept no responsibility for loss or damage, however caused.

2. CHAMPIONSHIPS

(a) Each Championship comprises four competitions.

(b) Members may submit a maximum of four entries in each slide competition and three entries in each print competition. Entrants must indicate which print or slide can be withdrawn should the total number of entries be too high.

(c) Any slide or print may be entered once only in a Championship competition.

(d) Entries are awarded points out of 20 and in every print competition each entrant's two highest scores will count in the Championship aggregate. In the slide competition each entrant’s three highest scores will count in the Championship aggregate.
Entrants with the highest aggregate of points in their Division at the end of the season will win the Championship. A Trophy will also be awarded to the runners up. In the event of a tie the Trophies will be shared.

(e) Certificates of Merit will be awarded for 18 or more points.

(f) At the end of the season the three highest placings in Division 2 prints will be promoted to Division 1. The three lowest placings in Division 1 will move to Division 2.

3. OTHER COMPETITIONS

The competitions in this section are not classified into Divisions 1 and 2.

(a) Set Subject Slide and Print Competitions
Three slides and/or three prints may be entered and entries should depict the set subject as notified in the current programme. Entrants must indicate which slide and/or print can be withdrawn should the total number of entries be too high. Entries must comply with conditions stated in Sections 1(c) and 1(d).

(b) Slide and Print of the Year Competitions
Entrants may submit three slides and/or three prints. All entries must have participated in one of the internal competitions held during the current programme. Entrants must indicate which slide and/or print can be withdrawn should the total number of entries be too high.

(c) Panel Competition (Prints)
Each panel to consist of three mounted prints [see Section 1(c)] on a related theme, indicating required order of display (left, centre, right).
Members may submit up to three panels. These panels may include previously submitted prints.

(d) The Tony Barnes Award (Prints and Slides)
Entrants may submit an unlimited number of prints and slides [see Sections 1(c) and 1(d)] to the theme shown in the current programme.

(e) Bognor Regis Local History Society Trophy
Entrants may submit an unlimited number of un-mounted prints
(up to 7” x 5”) depicting the changing face of the Bognor Regis Postal District. These prints are non-returnable as the Society will retain the entries for historical record purposes.

(f) ENPRINT COMPETITION

The monthly Enprint Competition is open to all members who do not enter other print competitions during that season. Entrants may submit two entries per month which should not be mounted and must have the member's name and a title on the back.
